MeeBox Review: Blackberry Margarita

meebox january 2016 blackberry margarita review box

There goes my dry January! You can't blame me though. When the MeeBox* girls contacted me about reviewing this month's box I knew I had to do it. Based on the previous launches I've been following every month, I'd be crazy to refuse! This month the theme is Blackberry Margarita, think a slice of lime, blackberry and a rim of salt...in a polish form. Come on guys, use your imagination! No? Ok then let me help you out. Is this picture doing it for you?

I think the content of January MeeBox* works perfectly with the theme. The first thing that struck me was the attention to detail. I love how the box has its own logo and when you open it everything is wrapped in colourful tissue paper. It's very eye catching and it was really exciting to open it. I could tell straight away that the three girls behind MeeBox have some form of background in beauty/design industry which they do!

I should probably warn you first that I might have gone a bit cray cray with the amount of pics and word count. This could be because: a) I'm a girl and I like to talk, b) I'm hormonal, c) this box is awesome or d) all of the above!

Let me start with my favourite polish from the box, 'Ard As Nails 'Little Legs'* (RRP £6). It's a beautiful red polish with a rainbow holographic effect. This is actually my first holographic polish and I'm super excited! I know, I know, I've been living under a rock!

As I'm not used to this kind of polish, I  wasn't sure what to expect in terms of the formula but it is absolutely fab. It's very easy to work with, not thick or gloopy at all and it's easily a one coater. Here I'm wearing two coats because I wanted to build up the colour a bit more. Look at that sparkle!

Now this is something kinda different. To be honest I have written nail art pens/stripers off a while ago. Is there any point if you own a striping brush? Well, turns out there is! From the length of the brush to its quality this Nubar Nail Art Brush* in 'Neon Lime' (RRP £4.99) has been super easy to work with. I have created a stamping decal using it and it was easy peasy which is not something I usually say about decals! The only downside is that the brush picks up a lot of polish which is very runny and can pool if you are not quick with it.

Now, I think you'll agree with me that this box couldn't be called Blackberry Margarita without including some cocktail stickers*! These are from shesellsseashells.co.uk (RRP £2) and are custom made especially for this month's MeeBox. They stick really well and even though I covered it quite heavily with polish it didn't leak.

Next up is Models Own 'Pink Paradise'* (RRP £4.99). It's a dusting of holographic glitter and flakes suspended in light pink jelly. It has a slightly thicker consistency that I would expect from any jelly polish. I love the flakes and how they shift colours, especially to the vibrant blue.

I swatched it over different colours to give you an idea of how you can create different looks with it. I dabbed two layers over (from the right) black, on its own and white. I like how it looks over white but just look at the flakies over black! I didn't just happen to catch the light like this for this picture, it actually looks like this in real life.

I really wish I could show this this gorgeous deep purple A England 'Elaine'* (RRP £9) in its full glory but my camera was in a mood and didn't let me capture the true colour. It's a very creamy, moody purple that can easily be a one coater. The formula is fantastic and there was also a 20% discount code that you can use at www.a-england.co.uk! Um, is it pay day yet?!

The MeeBox* is £20 or less if you choose a long term subscription. The value of the January MeeBox is about £27 so you are saving yourself some money and in return you're getting things like indie polishes that you can't just pick up in your local drug store.

You can find more details at meebox.co.uk. I am absolutely delighted with this box, what's your impression?

See you soon! xx
