Review | OPI New Orleans and Treatment Set

Today's post is a rather special one! I want to show you a birthday gift I got from my boyfriend. True, my birthday is not until the 29th of this month but there was this great offer on QVC so he went for it! I don't know how you feel about shopping channels but I was definitely sceptical at first. Long story short, I am now ordering my favourite skincare brand through it and the best thing about is that if you don't like what you've ordered you can send it back. I can tell you now that this set is definitely not going anywhere!

The collection I got was a 9 piece set including 4 OPI New Orleans shades, 2 Nail Envies, an Avoplex cuticle oil, an Avojuice hand and body lotion and an OPI crock cosmetic bag. All of this for just under £33. If you're new to OPI or don't really know their price range let me tell you that just one OPI Nail Envy from your local cosmetic store would cost you almost 20 quid. I think we can agree, this was a no brainier!

Let's have a look at the swatches then! First up is my favourite from the New Orleans Collection, She's a Bad Muffuletta. It's a really creamy coral shade. It's bright but it's not neon and makes me wish summer was here already! Here I'm wearing 2 coats.

Next up is Humidi-Tea which is a shimmery nude. In the bottle it looks really pretty and I love the pink and silver shimmer but the shade is really not for me. It literally blends in with my skin tone. I think it will be a nice base for nail art though. I applied 2 coats for perfect coverage and no streakiness!

I Manicure for Beads is a medium purple creme. It's very vibrant and the formula was very easy to work with. Shown here in 2 coats.

The last shade is this gorgeous Rich Girls & Po-Boys. It's not quite as neon as the picture shows but it is vibrant like all the polishes in this collection! I'd describe it as a deep baby blue. I don't have anything quite like it in my collection. This again is 2 coats without a top coat.

Before we get to the nail art I just wanted to say a quick word about the treatment that was in this set. I've been using Nail Envy as a base coat and straightener for what seems like forever and I've done a separate post about it that you can find here

Avojuice is something new to me but I love it already! The scent of this one is sweet lemon and sage and it's gorgeous. It's very fresh and sweet but not sickly. I find the formula really light and fast absorbing. I moisturise my hands before taking pictures and sticky, greasy fingers are just the worst. After using this lotion my hands are left looking matte and feel almost powdery which I absolutely love!

I love the crock effect bag! I'm using it as my cosmetic bag in my handbag (for touch ups) and it fits everything I need. As far as I know it was only available through this set for QVC customers only.

Time for some nail art! First, a simple floral design because I couldn't bring myself to cover the coral shade. These daisy stickers* are from bornprettystore.com and I was really impressed with them. They weren't rigid and didn't shrink or dissolve under a top coat. I think they are perfect for a spring/summer manicure! You can find the direct link here

I really like the next design I'm about to show you but it doesn't change the fact that it's a bit of a fail. I was inspired by the marble design of Maria from So Nailicious but this one looks nothing like hers! Ah well. I used the three shades from this set and a bit of foil to create this marble effect. I added a few round studs from bornprettystore.com. Remember that if you shop at Born Pretty Store you can you my discount code SXL91 for 10% off at checkout.

Although I do have a few OPI polishes, all of them are either sheer or glitters so it was really nice to experience the creme shades. I was really impressed with how pigmented and glossy they were without any top coat on! I usually prefer rounded brushes but I really like these square ones. I'd be very happy with just the 4 shades but the extra goodies are a great bonus!

What do you guys think about my designs and the birthday gift? I think he's a keeper! Well, after five years you'd think so anyway lol!

Thanks for stopping by xx
