Starry night

On New Year's Eve everybody's eyes are fixed on the skies. No wonder, a starry sky on a (hopefully) cloudless night is an AMAZING sight...and you probably focus mostly on the fireworks. If that's the case you are seriously missing out! I was lucky enough to be raised in the countryside but now I live in a city and really miss the night views! I didn't really feel like party nails after all the Crimbo festivities so here is a pinky starry night design instead.

pink galaxy nails french tip

I tried a few different base colours but none really worked for me so I decided on Orly Harmonious Mess. Then I applied my varnishes using small bits of sponge and tweezers. I started with Golden Rose Color Expert 87 and dabbed it mostly on the edges of my nails. Then to soften the dark polish I applied Barry M Matt White followed with Miss Selene 259 and Maybelline Uptown Blue 20. Sometimes I dabbed a certain polish again in a few places if I thought the design was missing something or had too much of one colour. Once I was happy with how it looked I applied one coat of Maybelline Sugar Crystals and dotted Miss Selene 169 in a few places. Using a precision brush and a dotting tool I created stars and dots with Barry M Matt White. I finished it off with a Seche Vite top coat. On my ring finger I applied 2 coats of Golden Rose Color Expert 48. Once I was absolutely sure it was dry I stuck on a piece of sellotape to create a french tip. I then continued the same way with the dabbing and added stars and dots. Once I was happy with the result I removed the tape and applied a top coat. Normally I'd say that you have to remove the tape asap but in this case I was putting on a tiny amount of each varnish and most of them were fairly new so the tape didn't leave the hard gooey edge I'd usually expect it to. I hope you like this as much as I do!
