Glitz n Glam

When you think about the fact that just last month most of us were all about red polish, one would assume it's the last colour you want to be reaching for in January. But when it's cold outside and you're starting to question whether you're JUST bloated post-Crimbo feast, you need something to cheer you up! And this Golden Rose red does exactly that for me.

This month Weekly Nail Art Challenge calls for glam designs. This week the prompt is quilted nails and I thought what can be more glamorous than red? I used Golden Rose Rich Color 61. It's a gorgeous orange-red creme. I applied 2-3 layers and a top coat. Once it dried a little bit I used a tooth pick to make the pattern.

Usually I'd go for my trusted Glisten&Glow HK Girl top coat but in this case you want something that dries a little bit slower (words I never thought I'd say) so you have plenty of time to create your pattern. I used Leighton Denny Crystal Finish top coat. I added a nude accent nail (Rimmel Caramel Cupcake, swatched here). The red metallic rhinestones are from bornprettystore.com.

I love the effect a tooth pick can create! If you're looking for more inspiration, check out my matte blue quilted nails.

  1. These look amazing I like the pattern on them I need to practice more with toothpicks I push too hard :0) xx

    1. Thank you Saz! I actually wait for the polish to be quite (almost) dry and then I push hard. It's physically a bit harder but that way it's easier to just make a dent rather than go right through the polish. Xx
