October Goodies - Nailbox Review

It turned out that while I was blissfully unaware on holidays in one of the most amazing places on Earth I have missed a parcel or two. I finally managed to make my way to the post office depo to find my newest Nailbox waiting for me and I have seriously never been this excited in my entire life! LOOK AT ALL THESE BEAUTIES! This month they seriously *ahem* nailed it *ahem*.

These are all my kind of shades, you know? They just look so glam regardless of the season and I am all over them. Can you tell I am perhaps just a tad excited? Yeah, thought so!

First up is Nails Inc Kensington High Street. Berries, purples and violets are my favourite shades so I was so happy to find this one in the box as I don't really have anything quite like it in my ever growing stash. See? This just proves that you can never have them all so my obsession is totally justified! The thing I love the most about this polish is that it's not one of those black-burgundy ones. I'm not a fan of dark polishes with just a hint of colour when you look VERY closely. This is just a gorgeous rich shade, perfect for this time of year. The application is good and look at that shine! This is two coats without a top coat.

Next up is a pretty nude with a touch of silver shimmer. This is Rimmel Caramel Cupcake and it is stunning! It makes me think of work appropriate colour with a bit of cheeky sparkle. And let's face it who doesn't need that when the days are getting colder and you just feel a bit meh. I am very fond of 60 Seconds Super Shine Rimmel range in general because for the price their staying power is incredible. The consistency is good and the application is smooth. This is two coats without a top coat.

In the box there were also a pair of scissors by Elegant Touch and drying drops from Nicole by OPI. I don't actually cut my nails unless...no, I never cut my nails, I just file them every now and then. So I made my boyfriend try them! He said they are very sharp but I noticed they don't leave a clean edge so you probably need to smooth it out with a file. Having said that they have a nice curve and I can totally see myself using them for decals, trimming nail wraps and so on.

Before I discovered Glisten&Glow HK Girl top coat I seriously couldn't live without the original OPI drying drops. They are not greasy, made my nails dry in minutes and moisturised my cuticles and the same time. Now that I'm using my fast drying top coat, drying drops are not that essential. Until I remembered that I own about five bottles of great top coats that I only used once because once you find one that works and dries fast, you just can't be without it. And it dawned on me that drying drops could be a great way of utilising those top coats and saving myself some dollar! I also used them to dry different layers of my design that you can find somewhere at the end of this long post. A great alternative if you don't fancy applying 5-6 layers of polish. It took about 7-10 minutes for me to be able to press on my nails without leaving my finger prints which is pretty great.

And what do we have here? Ah a LITTLE BIT of glitter...or loads! This is Essie Summit of Style and I've never seen a bottle that is packed with so much sparkle. On each nail I applied a few dabs of it and what you see on the picture is just one coat! I think if I added more it would cover the entire nail which would be a really cool effect. I might have to try that soon, because let's face it, I'm not using glitter powder to get that effect. My nerves just can't quite cope with that!

In the bottle there is a mixture of fine and large gold glitter that is suspended in what looks like a matte top coat. Surprisingly the large bits don't catch on your clothes even without the top coat but I felt that the matte base dulls the sparkle a little bit. So here is a shot with a coat of Glisten&Glow HK Girl. Ahhh that's better.

Finally here is a little bit of nail art using all the polishes from this month's Nailbox. The stripes are free handed. I used single chevron vinyls from shesellsseashells.co.uk and a sponge to apply the glitter. I also used the vinyls for this simple design. I love these nails so much and I think they could just pass as a Christmas design. To all you Scrooges, don't worry! I won't be posting any festive nails...for another week or two:p

  1. I think the Nails Inc polish is my favorite one from this box and I like how you combined the polishes in your nail art!
