Tutorial | Chrome Stamped Marble
I think it's safe to say that the marble effect in nail art isn't going anywhere. Ever thought it looks awesome but it's way too time consuming to paint? I feel you! Meet your new best friend, a stamper.
Fun Spring Paisley Design
Hello! Long time no see, but I have a good excuse, I promise! I've added the explanation at the bottom of this post if you want to have a read. I usually try not to bore you with the antics of my personal life, but this one is, how should I put it, nail blog worthy. However, for now can we focus on the important fact which is...drumroll...spring is here! Not just according to my calendar but even when I look outside my window, it seems to be confirmed. Spring has arrived and is here to stay (#overoptimistic) so I don't know about you, but I'm whipping out my pastel shades.
Winter Gradient With Cirque Idyllic + Storm King
Let's talk snow. We haven't had any for the past 2-3 years so I got the shock of my life last week as I woke up to the first snow this winter. While I was too excited thinking if I should get my sledge out or build a snowman, the entire country was brought to a standstill. Did I mention it laid for about 2 hours? Yep, an inch of snow can do that in the UK! So no snowman for me but I suddenly realised that I totally forgot to show you my winter nail art that I did a while ago. Let's have a look!
Pumpkin Spice MeeBox: Swatches, Nail Art and Review
According to my social media feed, the season of the pumpkin spice latte has begun. I wouldn't know, I don't drink coffee! I also never had pumpkin spiced anything so you might begin to sense I'm a little behind on the subject. However, my new MeeBox has arrived and with a little help from Google I am now in the loop! The Pumpkin Spice box has you ready for Autumn with three gorgeous shades and a stamping set full of nature and food inspired images and adorable phrases. Let's have a look!
31 Day Challenge: Silver Fern
Last year I visited New Zealand and I swear it has every single geographical feature known to man. Beaches, mountains, forests, volcanoes, you name it, that county's got it! Still, it felt like no matter where I went, silver ferns were always around. The locals told me that its unfurling leaf was the symbol of New Zealand and it features in a lot of Māori art. In today's design we take inspiration from artwork so can you see where I'm going with this?
31 Day Challenge: Colouring Book
Let's pretend I didn't miss yesterday's prompt and skip straight to my 'inspired by a book' design. Instead of thinking about it in terms of books I've read, this look was inspired by doodles in colouring books! That's not cheating...is it?
31 Day Challenge: Half Moon Vintage Lace
31 Day Challenge: Yellow Nails
Yellow prompt turned out to be not much better than yesterday's orange one. Not because I don't like yellow but because I did a destash about a week ago and, you guessed it, I apparently got rid of most of my yellow polishes. Perfect.
I had to work with what I got so I decided to use Ciate Loop the Loop as my base. It got me thinking, does anyone else feel like Ciate's mini bottles drive them insane? Or is it just me? They are very rectangular (as in wider than they are taller) and it's impossible to get the polish out once you get about half way though the bottle. I'm not sure if that's the problem with their regular size bottles as I don't own any.
31 Day Challenge: Red Nails
It's the first of September today and it's a special date in my calendar, it's the start of the 31 Day Challenge! Have you heard of it? It's basically a month where you give up social life and there are *possibly* some occasional tears, comfort chocolate eating and 'it will do' attitude involved. Jokes aside, this challenge is great for pushing yourself and getting out of your comfort zone for an entire month. If you want to find out more about it, there's more info at the end of this post.
Guest post for Nail Polish Society
Exciting news! I have done my first guest post and it's for none other than Emiline behind Nail Polish Society! Emiline is taking it easy with blogging this month and me along with a bunch of talented ladies produced a few posts while she enjoys her time off. I created this mandala inspired design with the polishes of one of my favourite indie brands. You can find my blog post HERE.
I'll be back tomorrow with this month's MeeBox review. See you then! Xx
ABC Challenge: M is for Mandala Nails
It's time for another ABC Challenge and this week it's all about the letter 'M'. I didn't actually have any ideas for this prompt so in moments like these I just do whatever I feel like and see how it goes. Well, it looks like it's a mandala design for you today!
ABC Challenge: L is for Lines
My trip away to Poland has almost come to an end so I'm back today with another ABC Challenge post after missing quite a few prompts. This week we are all about designs starting with the letter L and I went for 'Lines'. I do love a good geometric design but I did this one in Poland and there's just something about not doing it at your own desk with your own lamp, do you know what I mean? I feel like they are not quite um, polished enough! ;)
ABC Challenge: F is for Feathers
Do you know what is one of my favourite designs on nails? No, you probably don't because I've never done it until now! I don't know where the logic is in that but there you go. It's actually feathers. I attempted to hand paint them once and decided it's best not to venture there again for the sake of my sanity. However since April, me and and all the lucky ladies that got their hands on the Hitched themed MeeBox* are now proud owners of a Bundle Monster plate in collaboration with Ellandish. And guess what pattern is on it? Feathers!
ABC Challenge: E is for Elegant
Today's ABC Challenge calls for a design that starts with a letter 'E' and my first thought was actually 'eggs'. Have you seen those nails with fried eggs painted on them? I can't quite remember who came up with it but I think it's so cute and quirky. I've gone off the idea though, after someone egged my window during the Bank Holiday weekend. At first I hoped the torrential rain would sort that out for me but sadly that didn't happen. So instead of cleaning it like a normal person would, I decided to cheat and splashed HOT water over it...Needless to say I have a bloody omelet plastered on my window. Not my finest moment.
ABC Challenge: C is for Chevrons
It's time for another ABC Challenge and this time it's extra special because I am NOT late for this prompt! It's incredible what you can do when you are bed bound for a week. Well, more like sofa//desk/fridge bound. This week's design starts with the letter 'C' and I went for chevrons.
ABC Challenge: A is for Advanced Stamping
For the past few days I've been layering cuticle oil and slathering as much of my entrusted OPI Nail Envy as possible to get my nails to the state they were before all the travelling, illness and just general neglect happened! I am so sick of it, it's time for some nail art! And what better way to get the creative juices flowing again than through a nail art challenge? I am a day late for the ABC Challenge hosted by Nail Polish Society but I have a good excuse. I went shopping. All day long. I know, I know but I had to celebrate now that I am officially flu-free, right?! I treated myself to a trip to IKEA and I bought ALL SORTS (as you do). Anyway, the idea behind the challenge is to create a design corresponding with a letter of the alphabet. The first challenge starts with the letter 'A' (duh) and I decided to go for 'Advanced Stamping'.
Nail Art | Floral Pastel Gradient
Do you know what I haven't done in a while? A gradient! Along with (an overdue) spring clean and repotting the 3 plants I own. I know, my life is just crazy exciting right now! Anyway, back to the nails. I used to find it easier to use a bath sponge to create a gradient but these days I opt for a make up sponge. I still think the bath sponge blends the colours well but OMFG the bubbles! I just can't.
Review | Winkel Nails
Today I want to show you a new nail polish brand on the block, Winkel Nails. As a nail polish addict I love trying new brands. What's made me want to give this one a go was that the polishes I'm about to show you are 5 free and cruelty free. What's not to like? For those of you who are not familliar with those terms, it means that the polishes are free from the 5 main toxins and are not tested on animals. I was kindly sent two shades of my choosing and another two extra so let's have a look!
Pretty & Polished | Heart of the Ocean + Nautical Nail Art
Today I want to show you yet another gorgeous polish that has been sitting on my shelf for a while and it's an absolute stunner! This is Pretty&Polished and it's aptly named 'Heart of the Ocean'. It's a blue jelly with lots of larger and smaller metallic blue glitter pieces. It's my first ever polish from this company so I wasn't sure what to expect but just look at how beautiful it is!
