Tutorial | Chrome Stamped Marble
I think it's safe to say that the marble effect in nail art isn't going anywhere. Ever thought it looks awesome but it's way too time consuming to paint? I feel you! Meet your new best friend, a stamper.
Water Marble Video Tutorial featuring Faby
Tonight, I want to introduce you to a 'new to me' brand, Faby. It is an Italian brand with one of their recent shades featured on the cover of October's Scratch Magazine. I was lucky to have a Faby manicure done at the Olympia Beauty Event last month with the most gorgeous metallic red, 'Miss Scarlet, I Suppose...'. You can read all about my experience HERE, but for now, let's have a look at the water marble I created using Sunglasses and Bikini* and Lotus Flower in Shangai* that were kindly gifted to me.
Gothic Halloween Nail Art
I couldn't really get in the spirit of Halloween this year. I think it must be the whole pumpkin thing. They are everywhere and they are orange and we all know how much I just LOVE that colour. So I decided to switch it up a bit and go for a gothic glam. Think long vintage necklaces and Morticia Addams' red claws!
31 Day Challenge: Victoria Beckham Inspired Tartan
Is there a pattern that says Autumn more than tartan?! I don't think so. Since September is the month of the fashion week, for today's design I took my inspiration from Victoria Beckham's AW16 tartan coats and jackets. I love the combination of greys with a bit of vibrant orangey red coming through.
31 Day Challenge: AW16 Florals
A lot of people would agree that flowers in nail art are most popular in spring and summer, which sadly are over now. So I had this cunning plan to practice from now until spring and be totally awesome at painting flowers by the time the weather gets warm again! It was such a perfect plan...until I realised that florals are apparently IN this autumn/winter season.
31 Day Challenge: Flowers with Pantone Colours of 2016
Today's prompt is the one I was looking forward to the least. If you read my blog regularly then you know I'm not massively into flowers and that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I can't paint them. Ok, maybe a teensy tiny bit. Fortunately, there is always a dotting tool to come to the rescue! That I can deal with.
31 Day Challenge: Metallic Leaves Video Tutorial
Today's post is a special one because it comes with a video tutorial! I haven't done a tutorial in a while and I thought it was about time. I am still new to the whole filming and editing process (it's so confusing!) but I think I'm slowly getting the hang of it so watch this space. Ok, that's enough chatter, let's have a look at the design!
How to: Decals on the Uber Chic Mat
I have recently realised I am super behind with so many reviews so today's post will feature some stencils that Born Pretty Store sent me about 5 thousand years ago. They are meant to be applied directly onto the nail but I decided to try it out with my Uber Chic Mat and create decals. It was so much easier than I thought it would be! I also added a little step by step guide. I explain it all below.
Olympics Video Tutorial: Negative Space Design
My flat has literally become a man cave. One could even assume there's NOTHING on TV other then the Olympics. Is it possible that a guy can like sports that much? I mean, every sport? It seems that my boyfriend does. Since I can't escape it, I decided to just go with it and I created a sporty negative space design using a few polishes from the Rio themed MeeBox (reviewed HERE).
Ice Cream Nail Art Tutorial for Nail Spec
Do you know what I've been recently obsessed with? Toffee Cornettos. Seriously, I can't get enough! I am aware that my 'beach body' will not thank me for that but quite frankly, since summer decided not to show up this year, I officially decided not to give a crap.
VIDEO Nail Art Tutorials for Nail Spec
Hello there! Yeah, I'm still here. I've just been super busy preparing for my holidays and just about everything else so I had to have a little break from blogging. However I'm back with something quite exciting to show you. Over the past few months I've been trying my hand at video tutorials! I've done a few summer looks but my absolute favourite is this festival tie dye design.
Denim Nails for Nail Spec
If you look outside my window today you could totally believe you're in Spain. There's not a cloud in the sky and people are ACTUALLY wearing shorts. Makes you just want to get outside and explore! Or, if you're stuck indoors with flu, it makes you want to curse the unfair world, while you pop another antibiotic and settle down on the sofa with your trusted slanket.
Mixed Metallics for Nail Spec
The Sun might be out and warmer days are coming (here's hoping!) but that doesn't change the fact that sometimes you might not want the weather to dictate what shade of polish to put on. I know, shocker! What if the world says 'Spring' equals 'pastels' but you just really want to show the world the finger and rock some black nails with metallic accents? Well, what can I say, you've come to the right place!
How To: Water Decals Stripes
This past few weeks have been literally crazy hence why it's been a bit quiet here recently. The reason? Well, for most of it, I was visiting my family. Hardly an excuse? Ok then, try getting to your boyfriend's family who lives on the other side of the country on public transport and then fly home to visit your own family. While you're there, do just about everyone's nails in the 5 mile radius while catching a lovely virus. At the airport totally lose it once you find out your boyfriend printed out boarding passes from 2015. And when you finally land, still coughing and sneezing, learn that your coach is 2 hours late due to an accident on M1. I rest my case. Rant over!
And ok, I MIGHT have exaggerated slightly on one thing (or according to my boyfriend, all of them) when I said my boyfriend's family lives on the other side of the country. But in my defence everywhere seems far when you don't drive. There, hopefully my boyfriend's Gran (who reads my blog) won't have a go at me now!
Space Design for Nail Spec
Have you noticed that a design can look totally different on a different nail shape? That's why I love playing with my nail shape every now and then, it's refreshing! It makes me look at a design from a completely new perspective. Take galaxy nails. We've all seen it, we've all done it and we're all just *a tad* bored with it, amarite?! And yet, now that my nails are square I feel like I'm discovering this kind of nail art all over again!
Spring Florals for Nail Spec
As we all know by now, I am no expert in painting flowers. The thing is though, I like the odd floral design every now and then but the whole idea of shading really puts me off. And by puts me off I mean I can't do it. Is there any way to avoid it? Yes there is, daisies!

Speckled Eggs for Nail Spec
I am totally not feeling any cute Easter related nails this year! Just the thought of trying to stop my hand from shaking while attempting for the 10th time to paint cute bunny ears makes me want to lose it. Still, Easter is fast approaching and there's no way I'm missing out. After all, you only get a chance to do it once a year!
Negative Space Nail Art for Nail Spec
To me, the negative space trend is designed to be worn during summer. It's almost as if you want to show a bit of naked nails just like you would uncover your legs on hot days! If I lived in a hot country, I'd probably wear this kind of design more often. But I live in England where 'summer' usually appears in a sentence starting with 'I remember 5 years ago we had a really lovely summer....'. So yeah, high temperatures may not be a given but alternatively you can just show the weather the finger and rock negative space nails anyway!
Paisley Design for Nail Spec
There are a few things I never thought I'd be doing and a free hand paisley design would definitely be up there. I'm sure that's what stamping plates were invented for in the first place. I mean, seriously who's got the time for that?! This girl, apparently.
Colour Block for Nail Spec
I've been seeing a lot of colour block manicures popping up on my social media and I realised I've never actually done one before. Some of you might even think I have been knowingly avoiding this technique. Well, you've got that right! The reason? Striping tape. I. Just. Can't.
